Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, therapeutic style of yoga. Rather than focusing on your muscles, Yin targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints and bones. The key is holding each pose for an extended period of time, typically for two to five minutes (or longer)! Because you’re holding poses for longer periods of time, Yin Yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely used tissues while also teaching you to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.
Yoga Nidra is a meditation technique that moves the brain from the thinking center to the feeling center, which can help create a sense of deep stillness and presence. Many students gleefully exclaim “sleep!” when relaxation time rolls around. Indeed, yoga nidra can be translated as yogic sleep as the brain moves through various wave states similar to sleep, allowing the body to heal deeply. Intentions are set in this meditative state which can become stored in the body as “inner blueprints”, creating a healing shift over time.
Yoga Nidra can provide the same benefit as four hours of deep sleep.
What to expect: This class is a dynamic duo of both Yin and Nidra which refreshes the body and removes baggage from the subconscious.
